Life Book Giveaway (now CLOSED)

Dear Creative Souls,

I am just getting back from a pilgrimage out west in Colorado: Storytelling in Original Voice by Dr Clarissa Pinkola Estes (Women Who Run With The Wolves). The experience was completely transformative, beyond my wildest dreams. I'm still digging and piecing together tangible words to describe what I gathered in the 5 glorious days and 4 glorious nights of intensive soul digging. One night as she was telling us our bedtime story a pack of coyotes (or wolves?) came howling by. I was laying in the back of the room with my sweater cocoon (hardcore adjusting to the altitude) and tears of joy streaming down my face. More on this whole journey soon.

A quick note about what's to come from me in 2014: I have so much top secret goodness in store...! Legend of YOU is being completely refilmed and amplified with new magic and insights I've gathered along the trail... and more. I will make early-bird announcements on my newsletter first, so sign up on the side if you want to ride that train or any other train with me come 2014 --->

Without further ado: I'm thrilled to play a part in Life Book 2014 amongst the incredible line up. AND I'm thrilled to give-a-way a free spot. In the comments below I'd love if you'd share: "What lights your creative fire?!" along with a way to reach you (email / website). I will pick a winner next week!

  1. So many things light up my creative fires ....recently it was participating in the 29 Faces in September challenge. I haven't done much art at all this year and signing up for this really got me going. Other times it's been a walk in the woods...setting by the fire on a cold night... seeing a new flower bloom in my garden...or a visit with another creative soul . I would be thrilled for the chance to be inspired by so many different artist during 2014 :)

  7. OH! This blog hop has brought me here . . Color me grateful. I would like to hear more about your "Storytelling in Original Voice" adventure. (wowow) -
(yes, i followed your advise and signed up for your newsletter)
Wolves? I used to sing, play guitar and tell stories - I think i do pretty much the same stuff - (although, at the moment it doesn't feel the same - because my fingers went on sabbatical and have not, yet - returned - or. that's the way i tell it . . )

I used to get to keep company with a timber wolf named Lukas. He went from one college campus to another to educate and inspire young people to take better care of creation. Lukas and i were good travel buds - which was fortunate on all counts - his "handler/trainer person" was not so much a fan and was thrilled Lukas and i got on so well. I insist Lukas liked me because i always shared potato chips with him in the "green room." (Those rooms a very rarely green, you know . . . )

My creative fire? Golly, I've been that for so many other people - now that my life has taken a turn . . I am ever watchful for the new voice that will guide me . . . I learn for the young people I "teach" - (isn't that an interesting concept - i insist They Teach Me) - I am comforted by the creatures that keep me company . . .

I have no idea if this is answer enough to be considered - BUT, it's gift enough to cause me to reach a little deeper inside - SO - Thank you for sharing yourself with all of us.

    love & love

  33. My creative fire is fuelled by a need to express that which is in me when words will not suffice. There isn;t always someone around who will listen to me talk, but the canvas, the page is always ready to receive whatever colour/medium/mood I have to put out into the world at the time. Art is paving my path to recovery to complete mental and physical health-I hope the way before me promises to be more colourful than the journey I have made thus far.
I think lifebook would be a most useful tool in aiding my art fuelled trail blazing.

  52. So many things light my creative fire that it's usually a wildfire. I don't have enough time or energy to even begin to express it. I am so inspired by other artists, especially by their processes or the way they approach creating artwork. Anything can light my creative fire, such as nature, an unusual phrase, gazing at the moon, reading blogs, reading books, daydreaming, adventures (internal or external), dancing, dreams, music, spirituality (mine and others' beliefs), learning and seeking (knowledge, forms of expression, stories/explanations, truth etc). You can contact me at wendyjuhl13@gmail.com, at sirensongofthenight.blogspot.com or at https://www.youtube.com/user/inspirecreatebelieve. Thanks for this opportunity. 53. My creative fire stays lit. It flits from thing to thing, of course. I'm not someone who becomes obsessed with one piece or media until its done. I have lots of pieces at work at once. I'll have paintings, pastels, charcoal portraits, and 10 sewing and craft projects going simultaneously. I think its the variety that is the true motivation for me -- I love being able to move from one to the other with a dance from one room to the next. My house is a bit of a mess because of it, but I'm not bothered and my husband's grown accustomed :)

Or going for a walk in nature... coming back and putting all the ideas in a notebook. I love playing with papers ... Most of all I think I need time. If I try to rush it and do not give my creativity enough time and room - it is hard to be creative at all.

  97. What a wonderful course! All this talent and wisdom in one place. I would love to be a part of it. Some many things can inspire and ignite the creative fire. For myself it can be a color, a song, or just a glimmer of an idea I want to explore!

  98. My creative fire has just been lit by visiting New York City, seeing Broadway shows, seeing the lights and meeting so many kind and interesting people from all around the world. I'm ready to create. I wonder how it will show itself.

  99. My creative fire is lit by color. The vibrancy and use of color makes me immediately want to capture it whether it is in paints or in pictures. The line up of artists and their work is so inspiring to me that I can't wait for this journey to start.

  101. What lights my creative fire?? I'm inspired by colors, print and pattern. A palette of colors used in a design can get my imagination rolling! Nature is an endless source of spiritual inspiration for me and my fave artists can have me glued to their blogs for way too long!!!

  107. I would love to win a spot in this class (and btw LOVE your name. hehe) Seeing others work and learning from others really helps me to get creative. That's why I would love to win a spot in this class. With 4 kids it's hard to find time for myself. Being able to take classes online helps and then I can tap into that creative side of myself that makes me happy.

  113. What lights my creative fire? Life itself is a story that needs to be depicted. What speaks most to me are nature, yoga, art, reading, music, colors and the simple things in life.

  114. My creative juices get flowing when I'm explaining a technique that I've learned from you amazing instructors. The best part is when I see that person at the craft store buying stuff so they can create, also. I would love the chance to learn new techniques! Thank you for the opportunity to participate!

  115. What lights my fire: being creative. I've been looking for things that light my fire, that inspire me, that make me happy. I've finally found it: begin creative. Which is weird, because I've always been doing creative things, papercrafts, knitting, sewing, homedeco, you name it... But I grew up beleiving that crafting was merely a hobby, a way to spend time. It was never considered an art, a way of life. Now that I've finally had the courage to admit that crafting, being creative is MY way of live, I've overcome depression. So having found my way of life, I want to learn more and more to keep crafting and give meaning to my creations.

  117. Carissa! Congratulations on being an instructor for Life Book 2014! How super cool! You asked what lights my creative fire? The fact that after turning 50, suffering the loss of a child, going thru severe depression and PTSD, and discovering ART, thru Art Therapy . . . . The fact hat even I can create something that releases my inner most feelings of anger, despair, hope, love . . . ALL in a brush stroke! WOW! That thru ART, I was able to heal pain so deep, I thought there was nothing worth living for . . . . The fact that, little "old" me, can sit down and collage my way to a happy place, is unbelievable . . . OH, and create something worth looking at! I want to learn more! Thank you!

  120. Hello Clarissa, Thank you so much for this generous gift you are offering. What I loved most about my first experience with Lifebook (2013) was that I learned so many techniques and skills from all the diverse talented instructors participating in Tamera’s LifeBook.

I really think it's the inspiration from the instructors and participants of LifeBook rekindled the memories and 'light a fire' and brings me to a place from childhood where I had no inhibitions to create. That peaceful place has long gone and now I struggle to find it. It helps bring a stillness in my mind…kind of quieting the ‘screaming chatter’ in my mind that tends to drown out all things peaceful and quiet. This is why I am so excited about a chance to participate in LifeBook 2014.

  126. My Creative fire has gone out a bit. I have a studio where I teach kids and my day job is teaching classes to seniors at assisted living facilities. I seem to have lost myself and my own art in the process. Don't get me wrong. I am so blessed to make a living doing things I love. Super super blessed. However I feel like I'm gone. I know that when I use my creativity I'm given more. When I don't use it , it dries up. So right now more is more. The lifebook lineup is amazing and I can't think of anything better to spark my creativity back to where it needs to be.

  131. My creative fire was lit when I was child and has never gone out. Sometimes it wanes but emotions, nature, colour, music, art, children, beauty are fuel to my fire. I don't see creativity in just art, but in everyday things. The way I choose to dress , the food I prepare ...opportunities to be creative and encourage creativity abound. Embrace the freedom to mess up.

  132. What lights my creative fire? What doesn't~ :) some days it is nature, some days it's an antique mall-a book, a magazine, a picture-you just never know where your inspiration will come from-but it always does!

  133. At the end of the day I really enjoy soaking in a hot tub with Epsom salts while reading a good book and mug of hot tea. I have set a goal to allow myself the energy to implement more of this blissful self care this year.
On to some of your other fun pointmakers....living in Central New York there aren't flowers lending themselves to picking this time of year, but I've had fun snowshoeing with my pup and throwing snowballs for her!
