Shooting Stars and Trampolines

Shooting Stars and Trampolines
Cut off shorts and Kerosene....

Earlier this week (part of Misty Mawn's Stretching Within) we shared "Where I Come From" stories... poems... what have you's. I started out w/ this big long thought dump and made a small poem out of it. I will share it here eventually, or piece by piece in illustration form! This is one of the illustrations I did tonight... Shooting stars and trampolines, cut off shorts and kerosene.... It's me & my BF Amity around the age of 14 - 15 (who now lives in Arkansas and I miss dearly!) We used to rollerblade everywhere we went and get into all sorts of mischief. Good kinds of mischief of course, like sneaking out to jump on the neighbors trampoline, or taking a taxi in the wee hours to the 24 hour diner, or finding the most gawdy mismatched outfits we could at the thrift store and wearing them to school, or ____ so many silly things.) Oh the stories I'll tell one day.

Stories within my art is more where I want to go this year. I want to illustrate my stories, poems, thoughts, dreams, experiences, what have you's. I've been making steps toward that, or shall I say bouncing leaps! I saw this mixed media illustration book at the bookstore the other day, and it literally tugged my heart strings. I'm reading through it now.

Hope you had a nice and cozy weekend! I woke up this morning w/ intentions of making a really fantastic blog post, but thats all I got tonight. I'm totally wiped, and feeling a wee-bit-grouchy off and on all day today. I went for a 3 mile walk in the woods, which helped work out some of my grouchiness. I'm off to a hot shower, some cozy socks, and a cold drink.

xo,
Carissa
